After carefully reviewing her academic, clinical, research, and service achievements, the Board endorsed his promotion in recognition of his outstanding contributions to medical education, research, and institutional leadership

Professor Solomon Ali is a distinguished microbiologist and medical research specialist whose work focuses on infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and emerging/reemerging viral pathogens.
He has served his country for over 20 years at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) and Jimma University (JU), contributing extensively to academic, clinical, and research activities.

Professor Solomon has trained, mentored, and supervised undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students, guiding numerous research theses. Throughout his academic and research career, he has published more than 56 articles in reputable international journals and has secured six major competitive international research grants. Prof. Solomon has also played a pivotal role in strengthening research and health service infrastructures.

He has established Millennium Journal of Health, the first scholarly journal in SPHMMC, Infectious Diseases Research and Molecular Laboratory (IDReaM Lab) with integrated bio-banking system, and digitalizing hospital microbiology service laboratory data management system through a DHIS2 based platform.

Recently, Prof. Solomon Ali received national recognition from the Federal Ministry of Health of Ethiopia as the recipient of the 2026 Award for outstanding professional contribution in the health sector.

ከጥቂት ዓመታት በፊት ኢትዮጵያችን የክተት አዋጅ አወጀች፡፡
እንኳንስ እናት ሀገር ጠርታ፤ ለሩዋንዳ የደረሱት፣ ሞቃዲሾን የታደጉት፣ የኮሪያ ጀብደኞች፣ የቡሩንዲ ሰላምተኛ፣ የዳርፉር የፀጥታ ዘቦች የሆኑት የቁርጥ ቀን ልጆቿ ሆ… ብለው ተነሱ፡፡

ለሳልሳዊት ዓድዋ ልጆቿ በፍፁም አንድነትና የመንፈስ ከፍታ በአራቱም ማዕዘን ተመሙ፡፡

ስንቃቸው ፅናት፣ ትጥቃቸው አካፋና ዶማ፣ ርዕያቸው ደግሞ የልጅ ልጆቻቸውን ሀገር መስራት ነበር፡፡

እናማ ወርሀ ሐምሌ በ22ኛው ዕለት 2011 ዓ.ም ኢትዮጵያዊያን ሜዳውን አቋርጠው፣ ጋራውን እየቧጠጡ፣ ሸንተረሩን ይኩሉት፥ ሸለቆውን ሸማ ያለብሱት ያዙ፡፡

በ12 ሰዓታት ውስጥ ብቻ ድል በድል ሆኑ፡፡

ዜጎች በመሪያቸው ሐሳብ አፍላቂነት እና ጥሪ እልፍ ሆነው አንደ አንድ፤ አንድ ሆነው እንደ ሺህ ታላቁን ታሪክ ሰሩ፡፡

በአንድ ጀምበር ከ350 ሚሊየን በላይ ችግኞችን በመትከል የዓለምን ማህበረሰብ አስደመሙ።

ከአያት ቅድመ አያታቸው የወረሱትን የጦር ሜዳ ጀግንነት፣ ጥበብ እና የድል አድራጊነት መንፈስ ተፈጥሮን በመታደግ ደገሙ፡፡

የጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ዐቢይ አሕመድ (ዶ/ር) የአረንጓዴ ዐሻራ መርሐ ግብር የገዘፈ ሐሳብ እስካሁን 48 ቢሊየን ችግኞችን ተክሎ፤ ዘንድሮ ለ8 ነጥብ 5 ቢሊየን ችግኝ ተከላ ተዘጋጅቷል፡፡

ይህ ከሊቅ እስከ ደቂቅ የዓለምን ትኩረት የሳበው መርሐ ግብር በታላላቅ የሀገር እና የተቋማት መሪዎች ተዓምራዊ የተባለለት ነበር፡፡

በአሁኑ ወቅትም የባንኩን እድገት ለማፋጠን በሚደረገው ጥረት ውስጥ ሴት ሰራተኞች ግንባር ቀደም ሚና እየተጫወቱ እንደሚገኙ ተናግረዋል።

በአሁኑ ወቅት እናት ባንክ ካሉት ከ2,000 በላይ ሰራተኞች መካከል 952ቱ ሴቶች ሲሆኑ፣ ከ11 የቦርድ አባላት መካከል 7ቱ ሴቶች መሆናቸዉ የተገለፀ ሲሆን በተጨማሪም በከፍተኛ የሥራ ካውንስል ውስጥ የሴቶች ድርሻ 44 በመቶ መድረሱ የባንኩን አካታችነት እንደሚያሳይ ተገልጿል።

ባንኩ ላሳየው ተከታታይነት ያለው የሴቶች ተሳትፎ በኢትዮጵያ ብሔራዊ ባንክና በዓለም ባንክ የጋራ ምዘና (Gender Scorecard) "ፈር ቀዳጅ ባንክ"(The First and Only Transformational Bank) የሚል እውቅና ማግኘቱም በዝግጅቱ ላይ ይፋ ሆኗል።

ይህ እውቅና የተሰጠው ባንኩ በፋይናንስ አካታችነት፣ በሴቶች የሥራ ዕድገትና ለሴቶች ተብለው በተቀረጹ የብድርና ቁጠባ አገልግሎቶች ባከናወነው ውጤታማ ተግባር መሆኑ ተጠቁሟል፡፡

በቀጣይነትም በኢትዮጵያ የፋይናንስ ዘርፍ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ የሚተገበረውንና የሴቶችን የፋይናንስ ተጠቃሚነት በከፍተኛ ደረጃ ያሳድጋል የተባለለትን የሥርዓተ ፆታ ቦንድ (Gender Bond) ወደ አገልግሎት ለማስገባት ዝግጅት መጠናቀቁ ተገልጿል።

በመድረኩ ላይ ዶ/ር ተዋበች ቢሻው፣ ወ/ሮ ናስሪን መሐመድ እና ዶ/ር ገመቹ ዋቅቶላ የካበተ የሥራና የሕይወት ተሞክሮአቸውን ለታዳሚዎች አጋርተዋል።

እናት ባንክ በአሁኑ ወቅት በመላ ሀገሪቱ 222 ቅርንጫፎችን በመክፈትና የዲጂታል ባንኪንግ አገልግሎቱን በማስፋፋት ተደራሽነቱን እያሳደገ ይገኛል።

በሳምንቱ አጋማሽ በተካሄደው በዚህ ወሳኝ ምርጫ፣ ሻሃ የቀድሞውን ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ኬፒ ሻርማ ኦሊን በራሳቸው የምርጫ ጣቢያ ጭምር በማሸነፍ አስገራሚ ውጤት አስመዝግቧል።

አዲስ አበባ አህጉራዊ ኃላፊነቷን በብቃት በመወጣት፣ ለአፍሪካውያን ወንድሞቻችንና እህቶቻችን የጋራ መማማሪያ መድረክ መሆኗን ዳግም አረጋግጣለች።

ዛሬ በአህጉራችን መዲና አዲስ አበባ፣ ከተለያዩ የአፍሪካ ከተሞች ከመጡ ከንቲባዎች እና ከክልል አስተዳዳሪዎች ጋር ፍሬያማ የአቻ ለአቻ የመማማሪያ መድረክ እያካሄድን እንገኛለን።

በተባበሩት መንግሥታት የአፍሪካ ኢኮኖሚክ ኮሚሽን (UNECA) አማካኝነት በአፍሪካ ከተሞች የፋይናንስ አስተዳደር (Financial Management) አፈፃፀም ላይ በተካሄደው ጥልቅ የዳሰሳ ጥናት መሠረት፤ አዲስ አበባ ከተመዘነችባቸው 6 መስፈርቶች ውስጥ በ5ቱ የላቀ አፈፃፀም በማስመዝገቧ ልምድ እንድታካፍል ተመርጣለች።

ጥናቱ ከተካሄደባቸው ስድስት የአፍሪካ ከተሞች (ናይሮቢ፣ ዳሬሰላም፣ ሉሳካ፣ ኪጋሊ እና ያውንዴ) መካከል አዲስ አበባ የተሻለ አፈፃፀም በማስመዝገብ ቀዳሚ መሆን ችላለች። በተለይም የገቢ እና የፋይናንስ ሀብት አስተዳደርን በማዘመን ረገድ ከተማችን የጀመረችው ሪፎርም ውጤታማና ለአፍሪካ ከተሞች አርአያ መሆኑን የጥናቱ ግኝት አመላክቷል።

ይህ ስኬት፤ ከተማችን ከምትሰበስበው አጠቃላይ ገቢ ውስጥ 71 በመቶውን ለልማት ሥራዎች በመመደብ፣ የዜጎችን ዘላቂ ተጠቃሚነት ለማረጋገጥ ስናደርግ የቆየነው የሪፎርም ጉዞ ውጤማነት ማሳያ ነው።

ዛሬ ከተለያዩ ከተሞች ለልምድ ልውውጥ የመጡት ተሳታፊ ከንቲባዎች እነዚህን የሪፎርም ሥራዎች በአካል በመጎብኘት፣ አዲስ አበባ በፋይናንስ እና በገቢዎች ስራ አቅሟን እንዴት ገንብታ ወደ ተግባራዊ ለውጥ እንደቀየረችው ሰፊ ተሞክሮ የምታካፍል ይሆናል።
ይህ መድረክ የአፍሪካ ከተሞችን የወደፊት ዕጣ ፈንታ በጋራ የምንቀርጽበት ታሪካዊ አጋጣሚ ነው።

በመጨረሻም፣ ለዚህ ጥናት መሳካትና ለከተማችን እውቅና ለሰጡት ለተባበሩት መንግስታት የአፍሪካ ኢኮኖሚክ ኮሚሽን (UNECA)፣ እንዲሁም የውጤቱ ባለቤት ለሆኑት ለአዲስ አበባ ነዋሪዎችና ለሥራ ባልደረቦቼ ሁሉ የላቀ ምስጋናዬን አቀርባለሁ።

Addis Ababa has once again reaffirmed its continental leadership by serving as a platform for mutual learning among our African brothers and sisters.

Today, in our continental capital, we are hosting a productive peer-to-peer learning forum with mayors and regional administrators from various African cities.

According to an in-depth survey conducted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) on the financial management performance of African cities, Addis Ababa was selected to share its experience after achieving outstanding results in five of the six key metrics evaluated.
Among the six African cities surveyed (Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, Lusaka, Kigali, and Yaoundé), Addis Ababa emerged as the top performer. The findings specifically highlighted that the reforms our city initiated in modernizing revenue and financial resource management are both effective and serve as a blueprint for other African cities.

This success is a testament to the effectiveness of our reform journey, through which we have allocated 71% of the city’s total revenue to development projects to ensure the sustainable benefit of our citizens.

The visiting mayors and participants will personally tour these reform projects today. Addis Ababa will share its extensive experience in building financial and revenue capacity and translating that capacity into tangible, transformative change.

This forum represents a historic opportunity for us to collectively shape the future of African cities.

Finally, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the UNECA for conducting this study and recognizing our city, as well as to the residents of Addis Ababa and my colleagues, who are the true owners of this achievement.

✅ ባለፈው አንድ ዓመት ውስጥ ከ140 በላይ ሴት ሰራተኞች የአቅም ግንባታ ዕድል አግኝተዋል።

✅ በአንድ አመት ውስጥ አራት የትስስር የውይይት መድረኮች የተካሄደ ሲሆን በእያንዳንዱ የውይይት መድረኮች ላይ ከ200 በላይ ታዳሚዎች ተሳትፈዋል።

✅ ዳሽን ባንክ 11 ሺህ በላይ ቋሚ ሰራተኞች መካከል ከ3,300 በላይ የሚሆኑት ሴቶች ናቸው።

✅ በመድረኩ ላይ ኘሮፌሰር የዓለምፀሐይ መኮንን፣ ወ/ሮ ዳግማዊት ሞገስ እና ወይዘሮ መዓዛ አሸናፊ ተገኝተው ለተሳታፊዎች የህይወትና የሥራ ተሞክሯቸውን አካፍለዋል።

ERCS Delivers 5,000 CHF Financial Support to the Family of Late Staff Member Honelign Fentaw

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS), with support from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), has provided 5,000 CHF (approximately 924,000 Birr) in financial assistance to the family of the late Honelign Fentaw, an ERCS staff member who tragically lost his life in late August following a hostage-related incident around North Gondar.

The financial support was mobilized through the IFRC Red Fund and officially handed over by Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff, Ato Tewodros Alamrew, who also delivered messages of condolence and solidarity from IFRC President Kate Forbes and IFRC Secretary General Jagan Chapagain.

During the visit, the Vice Chair of the Amhara Regional Branch Board, Dr. Fikreselam Gared, reaffirmed ERCS’s strong commitment to standing with the families of humanitarian workers who lose their lives while serving others. He expressed appreciation to the IFRC and ERCS for their continued support and solidarity.

The visit was attended by ERCS’s Amhara Regional Branch Head Ato Shambel Wale and Regional Branch Board members, who joined in expressing sympathy and support to the bereaved family.

The wife of the deceased, W/z Eneye, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to ERCS and the IFRC leadership for the condolence message and the financial support provided.

This assistance fulfills the commitment made earlier by ERCS President Abera Tola during his visit to the family shortly after the tragic incident in August 2025.
