Ethio telecom, Djibouti Telecom, and Sudatel Group Advance Horizon Fiber Initiative with International Partners Through Pre-Commercialization Workshop

Ethio telecom, in partnership with Djibouti Telecom and Sudatel Group, has successfully hosted a high-level stakeholders' workshop to advance the pre-commercialisation phase of the Horizon Cross-Border Terrestrial Fiber Initiative. Formalized under a robust consortium framework, the secure corridor connects Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Sudan, offering global carriers and hyperscalers a highly reliable, low-latency alternative route for subsea cable traffic across the Red Sea.

Held in Addis Ababa, the workshop focused intensely on the commercial and technical requirements of the high-capacity terrestrial fiber corridor being developed across the region. Engineered with a fully protected, redundant architecture, the route seamlessly links cable landing stations in Djibouti and Port Sudan via Ethiopia, featuring expert network architecture insights from Ciena, Nokia, and BringCom.

The successful gathering convened leading global technology and connectivity organizations, including Google, Meta (via HIPConsult), Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Airtel Africa, Bayobab, WIOCC, Nokia, Ciena, center3, Saudi Vision, and China Mobile International. During these strategic sessions, participating partners and global operators expressed strong interest in leveraging and monetizing the multi-terabit capabilities of the Horizon Fiber corridor.

Jointly developed by the three telecom leaders, the Horizon initiative provides robust data transport, colocation, and hosting services with seamless landing access in Djibouti and Sudan. Designed for high-speed performance and resilience, Horizon empowers next-generation workloads like cloud computing, artificial intelligence, fintech, e-commerce, and digital content delivery.

Ultimately, this milestone showcases how pioneering African operators unite their infrastructure, expertise, and regional reach to shape a more interconnected and digitally empowered future for the continent.

የኩባንያችን ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚ ፍሬሕይወት ታምሩ የመማሪያ ደብተር ልገሳ መርሃ-ግብሩን በይፋ ያስጀመሩ ሲሆን፤ በዚህም በመላ ሀገራችን በሚገኙ የተመረጡ ትምህርት ቤቶች ለሚማሩ 105,496 ድጋፍ ለሚሹ ተማሪዎች 1,265,952 የመማሪያ ደብተሮች ድጋፍ ተደርጓል።

ኩባንያችን #ለነገ_ተስፋዎች በሚል መሪ ሐሳብ ያዘጋጀው ይህ የአዲስ ዓመት የደብተር ልገሳ፤ ከ113.3 ሚሊዮን ብር በላይ ወጪ የተደረገበት ሲሆን፣ ዓላማውም ተማሪዎች በትምህርት መርጃ መሣሪያዎች እጥረት ምክንያት ከትምህርት ገበታቸው እንዳይቀሩ ተስፋ ለመስጠትና ለመደገፍ ነው።

ኩባንያችን በሚከተለው ሰው-ተኮር ስትራቴጂ መሠረት፣ የደብተር ድጋፉ አካታችነትን ባረጋገጠ መልኩ በአዲስ አበባ እና በሁሉም የሀገራችን ክፍሎች አዲሱ የትምህርት ዘመን ከመጀመሩ በፊት የሚከናወን ነው።

ይህ ተግባር በስትራቴጂያችን ተካትቶ በዕቅድ የሚተገበር ሲሆን፤ የነገ ሀገር ተረካቢ ትውልድ ለማፍራትና በማህበረሰቡ ውስጥ የመደጋገፍ ባህልን ለማጎልበት የምናደርገው ተከታታይ ጥረት አካል ነው።

ኢትዮ ቴሌኮም ባለፉት ሰባት ተከታታይ ዓመታት ለ483.8 ሺህ በላይ ተማሪዎች ከ434.1 ሚሊዮን ብር በላይ ወጪ በማድረግ የመማሪያ ደብተር ድጋፍ አድርጓል።

ኩባንያችን በ“ቀጣዩ አድማስ” ስትራቴጂ ሁለተኛ ዓመት በቴሌብር አማካኝነት የፋይናንስ አካታችነትን ለማረጋገጥ እንዲሁም የዲጂታል ኢኮኖሚ ሥነ-ምህዳሩን ለማሳደግ የሚያስችሉ ተግባራትን ያከናውናል።

በአዲሱ 2019 በጀት ዓመት የቴሌብር ደንበኞች ቁጥርን በ11.7 በመቶ በማሳደግ 67.69 ሚሊዮን ለማድረስ አቅዷል።

የቴሌብር አጠቃላይ የግብይት ብዛት (Transaction Volume) 4.99 ቢሊዮን ለማድረስ የታቀደ ሲሆን፣ ይህም 7.4 ትሪሊዮን ብር የሚገመት የገንዘብ ፍሰት በዲጂታል ሥርዓቱ ውስጥ ለማንቀሳቀስ ያስችላል።

የአነስተኛ ብድር አገልግሎት ከ17.18 ሚሊዮን በላይ ለሚሆኑ ደንበኞች 35.04 ቢሊዮን ብር ለመስጠት ታቅዷል። ይህም ለግለሰቦችና ለአነስተኛ ንግዶች የዲጂታል ብድር አገልግሎቶች ተደራሽነት መስፋፋት ከፍተኛ አስተዋጽኦ ይኖረዋል፡፡

የዲጂታል ቁጠባ መጠን ወደ 29.39 ቢሊዮን ብር እንዲያድግ የታቀደ ሲሆን፤ ይህም ለ3.88 ሚሊዮን ደንበኞች የፋይናንስ ደኅንነትን የሚፈጥርና የቁጠባ ባህልን የሚያሳድግ ነው።

ቴሌብር የሀገራችንን ዲጂታል ፋይናንስ አካታችነት እና የዲጂታል ሥነ-ምህዳር አንቀሳቃሽ ሞተር በመሆን የዲጂታል ኢትዮጵያን ጉዞ ማፋጠኑን አጠናክሮ ይቀጥላል።

ኩባንያችን በ“ቀጣዩ አድማስ፡ ዲጂታል እና ከዚያም ባሻገር 2028” ስትራቴጂው ሁለተኛ ዓመት ማለትም በ2019 በጀት ዓመት ተግባራዊ የሚያደርገውን ዓመታዊ የቢዝነስ እቅዱን ይፋ አድርጓል።

በ2019 በጀት ዓመቱ የ4G የህዝብ ሽፋንን ወደ 95% ለማድረስ፣ የ4G አገልግሎት ተጠቃሚ ከተሞችን ቁጥር ከ1,200 ወደ 1,500 ከፍ ለማድረግ እንዲሁም የ5G አገልግሎት የሚሰጡ ከተሞችን ቁጥር ከ33 ወደ 73 ለማድረስ ታቅዷል።

በአጠቃላይ በጀት ዓመቱ የደንበኞችን ቁጥር 96.2 ሚሊዮን እንዲሁም የቴሌብር ተጠቃሚ ደንበኞችን ብዛት 67.69 ሚሊዮን ለማድረስ ታቅዷል።

በበጀት ዓመቱ 312 አዳዲስና የተሻሻሉ ምርትና አገልግሎቶችን ለግለሰብ እና ድርጅት ደንበኞች ወደ ገበያ በማቅረብ፣ አጠቃላይ ዓመታዊ ገቢን ወደ 295 ቢሊዮን ብር ለማድረስ ዕቅድ ተይዟል።

ኩባንያችን በ“ቀጣዩ አድማስ” የሦስት ዓመት ስትራቴጂ የመጀመሪያ ዓመት በርካታ ስኬቶችን በማስመዝገብ፤ በተለይም ከቁጥር ዕድገት ባሻገር ለሀገራችን ሁለንተናዊ ኢኮኖሚያዊ ዕድገትና ለዜጎች ትርጉም ያለው የአኗኗር ዘይቤ መሻሻል የላቀ አስተዋጽኦ አበርክቷል።

Ethio telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamru hosted a high-level delegation from ZTE Corporation, led by its Executive Vice President and COO, Mr. Xie Junshi. The meeting evaluated the successful progress of the landmark Network Expansion and Modernization Agreement finalized during the Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. As part of the end-to-end network modernization in the ZTE circle, which encompasses 879 sites, 462 RAN modernization sites (which include LTE layering at 180 sites, LTE upgrading at 248 sites, and a full SWAP of 102 sites), 237 MW link upgrades, and 103 IP RAN site expansions were successfully completed. On top of this, the remaining scopes of the modernization program are under execution, which include 124 new sites, U2100 refarming at 272 sites, and 115 rural solution sites.

This rollout has significantly widened high-speed connectivity, pushing national 4G mobile population coverage to an impressive 92% in ZTE circle. These sites now serve as a robust digital backbone for the nation's evolving economy, enhancing connectivity for millions of citizens across Ethiopia.

ኩባንያችን 8ኛውን ዙር የችግኝ ተከላ መርሃ-ግብር በይፋ አስጀመረ!

ኩባንያችን የአረንጓዴ ኦፕሬተርነት ጉዞውን በማጠናከር፣ ዛሬ በሀገር አቀፍ ደረጃ “ለአረንጓዴ ኢትዮጵያ” በሚል መሪ ቃል 250 ሺህ ችግኞችን በስኬት ተክሏል፡፡ በዚህም በአዲስ አበባ እንጦጦ (ቁስቋም ማዞሪያ) እንዲሁም በመላው ሀገሪቱ በሚገኙ ከተሞች አረንጓዴ አሻራችንን አሳርፈናል፡፡

በመርሃ-ግብሩ ላይ ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚያችን ፍሬሕይወት ታምሩ እንደገለጹት፤ ይህ ተግባር ኩባንያችን በዘላቂነት ስትራቴጂው (Sustainability Strategy) የሚያከናውናቸው ተግባራት አካል ሲሆን፣ ባለፉት ሰባት ዓመታት ከተተከሉ ከ4.6 ሚሊዮን በላይ ችግኞች 82.7% እንዲጸድቁ መደረጉን አብራርተዋል።

በተጨማሪም በታዳሽ የኃይል ኢንቨስትመንቶች፣ በፀሐይ ኃይል የሚሠሩ የኔትወርክ መሠረተ-ልማቶች እና ኃይል ቆጣቢ አረንጓዴ የዳታ ማዕከላት አማካኝነት የካርቦን ልቀት ቅነሳን ማሳካት ተችሏል። በተመሳሳይ በገነባናቸው ከ9 በላይ የኤሌክትሪክ ተሽከርካሪ መሙያ ጣቢያዎች ከ481 ሺህ በላይ ተሽከርካሪዎችን በማስተናገድ፣ ከ15.4 ሚሊዮን ኪሎግራም በላይ የካርቦን ልቀትን መከላከል ተችሏል፤ ይህም ከ76 ሺህ በላይ ዛፎችን ከመትከል ጋር እኩል ፋይዳ አለው።

የጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚ አቶ ወልዴ ወገሴ በመርሃ-ግብሩ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት፤ ኢትዮ ቴሌኮም ችግኝ መትከል ብቻ ሳይሆን ለመንከባከብ ትኩረት የሚሰጥ ተቋም መሆኑን ገልጸው፣ ከዚህ ቀደም የተተከሉ ችግኞች ወደ ጫካነት መቀየራቸውን በመጥቀስ ልባዊ ምስጋናቸውን አቅርበዋል፡፡

በ8ኛው ዙር መርሃ-ግብር ለተከላና እንክብካቤ ሥራዎች ከ2,000 በላይ ለሚሆኑ ዜጎች የሥራ ዕድል የሚፈጠር ሲሆን፣ ባለፉት ሰባት ዓመታት ውስጥ በአጠቃላይ ከ24.8 ሺህ በላይ ለሚሆኑ ዜጎች የሥራ ዕድል መፍጠር ተችሏል፡፡

ኩባንያችን የአረንጓዴ ኦፕሬተርነት ጉዞውን በማጠናከር፣ ዛሬ በሀገር አቀፍ ደረጃ “ለአረንጓዴ ኢትዮጵያ” በሚል መሪ ቃል 250 ሺህ ችግኞችን በስኬት ተክሏል፡፡ በዚህም በአዲስ አበባ እንጦጦ (ቁስቋም ማዞሪያ) እንዲሁም በመላው ሀገሪቱ በሚገኙ ከተሞች አረንጓዴ አሻራችንን አሳርፈናል፡፡

በመርሃ-ግብሩ ላይ ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚያችን ፍሬሕይወት ታምሩ እንደገለጹት፤ ይህ ተግባር ኩባንያችን በዘላቂነት ስትራቴጂው (Sustainability Strategy) የሚያከናውናቸው ተግባራት አካል ሲሆን፣ ባለፉት ሰባት ዓመታት ከተተከሉ ከ4.6 ሚሊዮን በላይ ችግኞች 82.7% እንዲጸድቁ መደረጉን አብራርተዋል።

በተጨማሪም በታዳሽ የኃይል ኢንቨስትመንቶች፣ በፀሐይ ኃይል የሚሠሩ የኔትወርክ መሠረተ-ልማቶች እና ኃይል ቆጣቢ አረንጓዴ የዳታ ማዕከላት አማካኝነት የካርቦን ልቀት ቅነሳን ማሳካት ተችሏል። በተመሳሳይ በገነባናቸው ከ9 በላይ የኤሌክትሪክ ተሽከርካሪ መሙያ ጣቢያዎች ከ481 ሺህ በላይ ተሽከርካሪዎችን በማስተናገድ፣ ከ15.4 ሚሊዮን ኪሎግራም በላይ የካርቦን ልቀትን መከላከል ተችሏል፤ ይህም ከ76 ሺህ በላይ ዛፎችን ከመትከል ጋር እኩል ፋይዳ አለው።

የጉለሌ ክፍለ ከተማ ዋና ሥራ አስፈጻሚ አቶ ወልዴ ወገሴ በመርሃ-ግብሩ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት፤ ኢትዮ ቴሌኮም ችግኝ መትከል ብቻ ሳይሆን ለመንከባከብ ትኩረት የሚሰጥ ተቋም መሆኑን ገልጸው፣ ከዚህ ቀደም የተተከሉ ችግኞች ወደ ጫካነት መቀየራቸውን በመጥቀስ ልባዊ ምስጋናቸውን አቅርበዋል፡፡

በ8ኛው ዙር መርሃ-ግብር ለተከላና እንክብካቤ ሥራዎች ከ2,000 በላይ ለሚሆኑ ዜጎች የሥራ ዕድል የሚፈጠር ሲሆን፣ ባለፉት ሰባት ዓመታት ውስጥ በአጠቃላይ ከ24.8 ሺህ በላይ ለሚሆኑ ዜጎች የሥራ ዕድል መፍጠር ተችሏል፡፡

የህልም ፍርስራሾች፦ በሃሳብ እና በተግባር መካከል የጠፋች ሀገር

ልበ ወለድ...

​በአንድ ወቅት፣ ለምለም ተራራዎች ባሏትና በወንዞቿ ግርማ በሚታወቀው "ኤልዳዶ" በምትባል ሀገር ውስጥ፣ ካሚል የተባለ ወጣት ይኖር ነበር። ካሚል ተራ ወጣት አልነበረም፤ እርሱ የነገን ብርሃን ዛሬ ላይ ሆኖ የሚያይ፣ በሃሳብ የታነፀ ብሩህ አእምሮ ያለው ምሁር ነበር። ካሚል ሁልጊዜም በዴካርት የፍልስፍና መርህ ይመራ ነበር። "አስባለሁ፣ ስለዚህ አለሁ" (I think, therefore I am) የሚለው አባባል ለእርሱ መኖር ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ የመኖር ትርጉሙ ራሱ ነበር።

​ካሚል ሀገሩ በችግር ስትታመስ፣ ኢኮኖሚዋ ሲሽመደመድና ህዝቧ በድህነት ሲጠበስ ያያል። ነገር ግን ተስፋ አይቆርጥም ነበር። "ሀገር ማለት የሰዎች የጋራ አስተሳሰብ ውጤት ናት" ብሎ ያምናል። ራልፍ ዋልዶ ኤመርሰን እንዳለው "ቀኑን ሙሉ ስታስብበት የዋልክበትን ነገር ትሆናለህ" የሚለው እውነት በሀገሩ ላይ እንዲሰፍን ይመኝ ነበር።

​የሃሳቡ መወለድ

​ካሚል ለሀገሩ ታላቅ የኢኮኖሚ ፕላን አረቀ። ይህ ፕላን የመንግስት ቁጥጥርን እና የግል ባለሀብትን ሚዛን የሚጠብቅ፣ ድሃውን የማይረሳና ሀብታሙን የሚያበረታታ ነበር። ፕላኑን ይዞ ወደ መንግስት ባለስልጣናት ሄደ። በወቅቱ የነበሩት መሪዎች በሃሳቡ ተደነቁ። "ይህማ የደቡብ ኮሪያንና የጃፓንን እድገት የሚደግም ድንቅ ሃሳብ ነው!" አሉት።
​ካሚል በደስታ ተሞላ። ቪክቶር ሁጎ እንዳለው "በሰራዊት ወረራ ላይ መቆም ይቻላል፤ ጊዜው በደረሰ ሃሳብ ላይ ግን መቆም አይቻልም" የሚለውን አምኖ፣ ሀገሩ ልትለወጥ እንደሆነ ለራሱ ቃል ገባ።

​የተግባር መቃብር

​ነገር ግን ጊዜው እያለፈ ሲሄድ፣ የካሚል ድንቅ ሃሳብ በቢሮክራሲው አዙሪት ውስጥ መጥፋት ጀመረ። የሀገሪቱ ቢሮክራቶች የቻርለስ ዲከንስን "Little Dorrit" መጽሐፍ ገጸ-ባህሪያት ይመስሉ ነበር። ስራን እንዴት መስራት እንዳለባቸው ሳይሆን፣ "እንዴት እንደማይሰራ" የተካኑ ነበሩ። ካሚል በየቀኑ ወደ መስሪያ ቤቱ ይሄዳል። በየቀኑ "ነገ ተመለስ" ይባላል። ጆን ክላርክ እንዳለው "ሊበለጽግ የሚፈልግ በአምስት ሰዓት (ንጋት) መነሳት አለበት" ቢባልም፣ የሀገሪቱ ባለስልጣናት ግን በአስር ሰዓት ቢሮ ገብተው በኤሌክትሪክ አየር ማቀዝቀዣ ስር ሆነው ሀገሪቱን ወደ ገደል ይመሯት ነበር።
​የካሚል ድንቅ ፕላን በመደርደሪያ ላይ አቧራ እየጠጣ ቀረ። በዚህ መሃል ጎረቤት ሀገራት የካሚልን ሃሳብ የሚመስሉ ስልቶችን ተጠቅመው ወደ OECD አባልነት ሲገሰግሱ፣ የእርሱ ሀገር ግን በ "ነጭ ዝሆን" ፕሮጀክቶች ተወጠረች። የመንግስት ተቋማት የሙስና እና የዘመድ አዝማድ መደበቂያ ሆኑ።

​የግል ውድቀት እና ማህበራዊ ስብራት

​ካሚል በግል ህይወቱም መሪር ፅዋ መቅመስ ጀመረ። ትዳር መሰረተ፣ ሴት ልጅም ወለደ። ስሟንም "ተስፋ" አላት። ነገር ግን በሀገሪቱ በነገሰው የትግበራ እጦትና በኢኮኖሚው ውድቀት ምክንያት፣ በካሚል ሰነድ ላይ "ትምህርት ለሁሉም" ተብሎ የተጻፈው ሃሳብ በተግባር አልተተረጎመም። ልጁ ተስፋ ጥራት ያለው ትምህርት ማግኘት አልቻለችም።
​አንድ ምሽት ካሚል በቤቱ ተቀምጦ በድቅድቅ ጨለማ ውስጥ (መብራት በየተራ በመጥፋቱ) ሲያለቅስ፣ የኤመርሰንን አባባል አስታወሰ፦
"የእያንዳንዱ ተግባር ቅድመ-አያት ሃሳብ ነው"። እርሱ መልካም ሃሳብ ነበረው፣ ነገር ግን ተግባሩ ሳይወለድ በመጨንገፉ፣ ሀገሪቱ በጨለማ ተዋጠች።

​አሳዛኙ ነገር ደረሰ። ተስፋ (ልጁ) በጽኑ ታመመች። ካሚል ወደ መንግስት ሆስፒታል ይዟት ሄደ። ሆስፒታሉ በሰነድ ላይ "ዘመናዊ" ይባላል፤ በተግባር ግን መድሃኒትም ሆነ በቂ ዶክተር አልነበረውም። ካሚል በገዛ ሃሳቡ የገነባትን "የወረቀት ሀገር" እና በተግባር ያለችውን "የገሃነም ሀገር" ልዩነት በገዛ ልጁ ህይወት ላይ አየው።

​ተስፋ በካሚል እቅፍ ውስጥ ሆና የመጨረሻ ትንፋshortን ተነፈሰች። ካሚል በጩኸት ምድርን ቀወጠው። "ለምን? ለምን ሃሳባችን ወደ ተግባር አይቀየርም?" እያለ ይጮህ ነበር።

​ፍጻሜ፦ የተረሳው ምሁር

​ከአመታት በኋላ፣ ካሚል በጎዳና ላይ የሚዞር እብድ መሰለ። ፂሙን አሳድጎ፣ የተቀደደ ወረቀት ይዞ በየመንገዱ ይቆማል። ያ ወረቀት ያ የድሮው ድንቅ የኢኮኖሚ ፕላን ነበር። ሰዎች በጎን ሲያልፉ "ይሄ ምስኪን ምሁር" እያሉ ይራራሉታል።

​ካሚል ግን አሁንም አንድ ነገር ያስባል። አኒዩሪን ቤቫን በአንድ ወቅት ስለ እንግሊዝ የተናገረውን ለሀገሩ እየደገመው ይስቃል፦ "ይህች ሀገር በከሰል የተሞላችና በአሳ የተከበበች ናት፤ በተመሳሳይ ሰዓት የከሰልና የአሳ እጥረት እንዲከሰት ለማድረግ ግን 'የማደራጀት ጥበብ ያለው ጋኔን' መሆን ይጠይቃል"።
​ካሚል ወደ ሰማይ አሻቅቦ እያየ እንዲህ አለ፦ "እኛ 'መስራት የምንችል' (Can do) ህዝቦች ነበርን፤ ነገር ግን 'እንሰራዋለን' (Will do) የሚል ቁርጠኝነት አጣን። ሃሳባችን ተግባር ሳይወልድ ቀረ፣ ተግባራችን ደግሞ ሃሳብ የሌለው ባዶ ሆነ።"

​ታሪኩ የሚያበቃው ካሚል በከተማው አደባባይ ላይ በሚገኘው የዴካርት ሃውልት ስር ወድቆ ህይወቱ ሲያልፍ ነው። በእጁ የያዘው ወረቀት ላይ ግን አንዲት የመጨረሻ መስመር በደሙ ተጽፋ ነበር፦

​"ሃሳብ ያለ ተግባር ህልም ነው፤ ተግባር ያለ ሃሳብ ግን ቅዠት ነው። እኛ የኖርነው በቅዠት ውስጥ ነበር።"
