Today it’s Persons Day in Canada a day that commemorates the 1929 decision officially recognizing women and to eligible to serve in the Senate.
On this day, I am deeply humbled and honoured to be recognized by the Governor General of Canada - representative of His Majesty King as one of the recipients of the 2025 Governor General’s Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case Medal, one of the highest and most prestigious honours in this beautiful country.
Every day, God continues to surprise me with how He is working and using me in this season.
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine receiving such high honor recognition for my contributions to Canada by the Federal government!
When I arrived in Canada from my beautiful country, Ethiopia, I was a young dreamer holding on to hope.
In my early years, those dreams were tested by pain, struggle, health challenges, grief, and loss yet I never lost faith. Through every storm, I held on to the belief that my sunrise would rise again.
With tears of gratitude, I share this moment with my wonderful and incredible team💜💜💜 ,close friends my family, government of Canada, hon Minister Rechie Valdez you for trusting my vision and dream!

And to my daughter thank you for being my light and my hope through every season in my life. You are my reason to keep believing, not to lose hope, to keep building, showing up and to keep shining. 💜
