ኩባንያችን 8ኛውን ዙር የችግኝ ተከላ መርሃ-ግብር በይፋ አስጀመረ!

Rural Connectivity: Empowering Communities and Bridging the Digital Divide!
Ethio telecom has successfully completed the first year of its Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028 Strategy, marking significant progress in bridging Ethiopia’s digital divide. At the heart of this strategy is our commitment to inclusive, sustainable and transformative rural connectivity, ensuring that geography, distance and limited access to electricity do not prevent communities from participating in the digital economy.
During the fiscal year, we deployed 195 new rural mobile sites, reaching communities located, on average, 14.3 kilometres from the nearest town and 10.6 kilometres from the nearest existing mobile site. This demonstrates our deliberate focus on connecting Ethiopia’s most remote and underserved areas.
This expansion extended connectivity and digital access to 117 woredas and 492 kebeles and villages, enabling more than 1.53 million people to benefit from reliable communications, digital platforms and inclusive financial services.
To address power limitations in remote areas, we deployed 22 additional Rural Solution sites, specifically designed to serve communities with limited or no access to the national electricity grid. We also significantly expanded our green energy infrastructure, increasing installed solar power capacity from 27 MW to 39.72 MW, an additional 12.72 MW in just one year. This investment strengthens network resilience, reduces dependence on conventional energy sources and advances our environmental sustainability commitments.
Connectivity must also translate into meaningful access to essential services. Through our Rural Agent Project, we onboarded 812 new agents across 17 regions, achieving a 58% active-agent rate and bringing telebirr and other essential digital financial services closer to previously underserved communities. Going forward, we will focus on further improving agent activation, productivity and service availability.
We also advanced the fiberization of rural wireless sites, strengthening network capacity, reliability and service quality while preparing rural communities for growing digital demand.

As we successfully conclude Year One of our Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028 Strategy, Ethio telecom continues to expand and modernize the critical digital infrastructure powering Ethiopia’s transformation.
During the year, we deployed 603 new mobile sites, expanding our nationwide footprint to 10,613 sites, while adding capacity for 10.2 million customers and scaling total mobile network capacity to 115.1 million. To strengthen network resilience, 44% of our sites are supported by backup generators, while 24% of off-grid sites are powered by solar energy.
We expanded 4G/LTE services to 264 additional towns, bringing the total to 1,200 towns and increasing 4G population coverage to 82.2%. Our 5G network now reaches 33 towns, including seven added during the year accelerating access to high-speed, next-generation digital services.
We also strengthened the high-capacity foundation of Ethiopia’s digital economy. Our national backbone fiber and OPGW network now spans 23,422 km, supported by 15,615 km of metro fiber. Total Optical Distribution Network capacity reached 1.46 million, comprising 708,992 greenfield capacity and 759,735 copper-switch-off capacity.
During the year, we migrated 100,000 customers from copper to fiber, helping the fixed-broadband customer base surpass the historic milestone of one million, of whom 443,298 are connected through fiber.
International gateway and local content-cache capacity increased by 1.8 Tbps to 4.3 Tbps, achieving 172% of the annual target. Expanded caching for leading global platforms, including Google, Meta, Netflix, TikTok and Cloudflare, is bringing content closer to users, improving speed and service experience while reducing international bandwidth dependency.
Together, these achievements reinforce Ethio telecom’s role as a principal architect and catalyst of Digital Ethiopia 2030 building a high-speed, resilient, inclusive and future-ready digital infrastructure that connects citizens, empowers businesses, modernizes institutions and unlocks new opportunities across Ethiopia.

👉 ከአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የንግድና ኢኮኖሚክስ ፋኩልቲ በሂሳብ አያያዝ (BA in Accounting) የመጀመሪያ ዲግሪያቸውን አግኝተዋል።
👉 በቴክኖሎጂና ዲጂታላይዜሽን ዘርፍ ያላቸውን እውቀት ለማሳደግ ከአዲስ አበባ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በኢንፎርሜሽን ሲስተምስ (BSc in Information Systems) በ2005 ዓ.ም (እ.ኤ.አ) ሁለተኛ ዲግሪያቸውን አጠናቀዋል።
👉 በለንደን፣ ዩናይትድ ኪንግደም ከሚገኘው ታዋቂው የታወቀላቸውና የተመሰከረላቸው የሂሳብ ባለሙያዎች ማህበር (FCCA - ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) UK) ተምረው የላቀ የሙያ ማረጋገጫ ማዕረግ በ2013 ዓ.ም (እ.ኤ.አ) ተቀናጅተዋል።

አቶ ይህንዓለም አቅናው ከ24 ዓመታት በላይ የዘለቀ የሥራ ዘመናቸውን በኢትዮጵያ ቀዳሚና ግዙፍ የግል ባንክ በሆነው ዳሽን ባንክ ውስጥ ያሳለፉ ሲሆን፣ ከታችኛው የባንክ ኦፕሬሽን ጀምሮ እስከ ከፍተኛው የአመራር እርከን ድረስ በተለያዩ ኃላፊነቶች ላይ አገልግለዋል።
ለአብነት ያኽል፤
👉 የቅርንጫፍ ሥራ አስኪያጅ (Branch Manager) በመሆን አገልግለዋል። በተለያዩ የዳሽን ባንክ ቅርንጫፎች ውስጥ በሥራ አስኪያጅነት በመስራት፣ የቅርንጫፍ ኦፕሬሽኖችን መርተዋል፣ የደንበኞችን ቁጥር አሳድገዋል እንዲሁም የተቀማጭ ገንዘብ (Deposit) አሰባሰብን አጠናክረዋል።
👉 በዳሽን ባንክ ዋና ቢሮ የክሬዲት ዲፖርትመት (credit department) ዳይሬክተር በመሆን ሰርተዋል። በብድር ክፍል ውስጥ ትልቅ አሻራ አሳርፈዋል።
👉 በኋላም የስትራቴጂ መምሪያ ኃላፊ ( Strategy Department Director) በመሆን በባንኩ ዋና መሥሪያ ቤት ውስጥ በኃላፊነት በመምራት የውስጥ አሰራር ሥርዓትን እና ስትራቴጂካዊ አሰራሮችን አዘምነዋል። ትልልቅ ስራዎችን ሰርተዋል።
👉 በምክትል ፕሬዚዳንትነት ደረጃ (Vice President) በመሆን ሰርተዋል። በዳሽን ባንክ ከፍተኛ ማኔጅመንት ውስጥ በምክትል ፕሬዚዳንትነት ደረጃ ቁልፍ ስትራቴጂካዊ ቦታዎችን እና ዘርፎች በዋናነት መርተዋል። የስትራቴጂክ እና ከስተመር ኤክስፔርያስ (Strategy & Customer Experience) ፣ እንዲሁም የባንኩን Retail & SME ዘርፍ በቺፍነት መርተዋል። በዚሁ ቆይታቸው በድስትሪክት ደረጃ በርካታ የባንክ ቅርንጫፎችን በአንድ ላይ በማስተናገድ፣ የስትራቴጂ አፈጻጸምን፣ የሰው ኃይል ልማትንና የቅርንጫፎችን ሁለንተናዊ ዕድገት በበላይነት መርተዋል።
ከዚህ ባሻገር በባንኩ ውስጥ በነበራቸው ተሳትፎ ዋና ዋና የአመራር ስኬቶችና ክህሎቶች የተጎናፀፉ እንደሆኑ የግል ማህደራቸው ያሳያል። የባንኩን የዲጂታል ሽግግር ማለትም ባንኩ ወደ ዘመናዊና ቴክኖሎጂ ተኮር አሰራር በሚያደርገው ጉዞ ላይ የላቀ አስተዋጽዖ አበርክተዋል። በሂሳብ አያያዝና በፋይናንስ ኦዲት (FCCA) ያላቸውን ዓለም አቀፍ እውቀት በመጠቀም የባንኩን የውስጥ አሰራር እና ቁጥጥር ሥርዓት አጠናክረዋል። የስትራቴጂካዊ ውሳኔ በመስጠት የባንኩን የረጅም ጊዜ ዕድገት የሚያረጋግጡ ፖሊሲዎችንና መመሪያዎችን በመቅረጽ ረገድ የዳበረ ልምድ አግኝተዋል። በሁሉም ዘርፍ በአመራርነት ትልቅ አስተዋጽኦ አበርክተዋል።

Beneath its mountainous terrain lies a vast reserve of rare earth elements (REEs), estimated to be worth between $6 to $8 trillion. Their discovery has generated significant interest from both domestic policymakers and international investors. Yet, as the country races to unlock this potential, it risks plunging headlong into an environmental catastrophe of staggering proportions. This rapid push toward extraction has raised important questions about the adequacy of environmental safeguards and whether current governance systems can manage the long-term impacts of large-scale resource development. Without careful planning and oversight, the benefits of rare earth mining could be overshadowed by lasting ecological and social costs.
Recent geochemical mapping, conducted jointly by the Geological Survey of Pakistan and the China Geological Survey, has revealed extensive concentrations of REEs across nearly 360,000 square kilometers of Pakistani territory. These deposits, primarily found in carbonatite-related formations, represent not just economic opportunity but ecological peril. For every ton of rare earths extracted, the process generates 2,000 tons of toxic waste, including one ton of radioactive residue. This toxic arithmetic is not a footnote; it is the central equation of extraction—one that threatens to poison Pakistan’s soil, water and air for generations. Much of the exploratory work has been described as unscientific, random and insufficient. This knowledge gap means that decisions about extraction are being made without a full understanding of the environmental consequences. Eight strategic sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stretching from Mansehra to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, have been earmarked for exploration. Drilling operations at Mashkichah in District Chagai are already underway, but the environmental implications raise serious concerns about transparency and accountability.
Pakistan’s ecological foundation seems fragile. The country faces one of the world’s most severe water crises, with over 60 percent of Balochistan’s population lacking access to safe drinking water. Groundwater depletion is accelerating and arsenic contamination in aquifers has reached dangerous levels. Rare earth processing, which requires massive volumes of water—up to 500,000 gallons per ton of lithium extracted—will place enormous strain on these already stressed resources. The competition for water between mining operations and local communities will be fierce and, in many cases, devastating. Contaminated aquifers can remain unusable for decades, wiping out agricultural potential in rural areas. The town of Talaap in Balochistan offers a grim preview of what lies ahead. For years, it has supplied water to the Saindak copper-gold project, yet its own residents have seen little benefit. The expansion of rare earth extraction threatens to replicate this pattern across multiple provinces, draining resources while delivering profits elsewhere.
The health consequences of rare earth exposure are equally alarming. REEs are known to cause cancer, cardiovascular damage, respiratory failure and neurological disorders. These elements disrupt fundamental biological processes, affecting multiple organ systems and compromising immune, reproductive and nervous functions. The burden of this environmental violence falls disproportionately on the most vulnerable and those with limited access to healthcare. Compounding these risks is Pakistan’s seismic vulnerability. The 2005 Kashmir earthquake was a stark reminder of the region’s tectonic instability. Balochistan continues to experience regular seismic activity, posing a direct threat to mining infrastructure. Rare earth extraction requires massive tailings dams to store radioactive waste and toxic chemicals. These structures, even under ideal conditions, are prone to failure.
Pakistan’s mineral wealth is undeniable. It holds the world’s fifth-largest copper-gold reserves, the second-largest coal and salt reserves and 92 discovered minerals in total. Yet the sector contributes less than 2 percent to the national GDP. This extraction-without-development model ensures that Pakistan captures minimal value from its resources while bearing the full brunt of environmental and social costs. The Saindak mine generated $2 billion between 2002 and 2017, yet Balochistan remains the poorest province. Proposed contracts for rare earth projects allocate just 10 percent equity to local communities, while foreign partners claim up to 70 percent. This is neo-colonial resource extraction, refined and repackaged for the 21st century. External geopolitical pressure further affects Pakistan’s mineral policy. In April 2025, U.S. State Department official Eric Meyer visited Islamabad just before the rushed passage of the Balochistan Mines Act. The legislation, which centralized control over provincial minerals, was suspended after widespread protests.
The risks Pakistan faces from rare earth mining are not abstract; they are immediate, measurable and potentially irreversible. If extraction proceeds without proper safeguards, the country could face widespread contamination of its water sources, accumulation of radioactive waste and loss of arable land. These impacts won’t disappear when the mining ends; they will linger for decades, affecting public health, agriculture and access to clean water. #ethiopia | መስከረም 2/1928 ዓ.ም ግርማዊ ጃንሆይ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ በሬዲዮ ስርጭቱ ንግግር አደረጉ፤ ልዕልት ጸሐይ በእንግሊዝኛ መልዕክት አስተላልፈውበታል፤ ኢጣሊያም ኢትዮጵያን ልትወር ያንዣበበችበት ዋዜማ ነበር።
ሬዲዮው በ9 ሀገራዊና በ3 የውጭ ቋንቋዎች ዜናና ፕሮግራሞችን እንደሚያስተላልፍ ያመሳከርኩት የታሪክ ሰነድ ያመለክታል።

ሬዲዮን ጨምሮ ቴሌቪዥንና ጋዜጣ ያኔ ድሮ ዋነኞቹ የመረጃ ምንጮች (mainstream media)፥ ቀጥሎ የተለመዱ የዜና አገልግሎት መስጫዎች (traditional media) ሲባል ቆየና ከ10 አመት ወዲህ ስያሜው በውርስ መገናኛ ብዙኀንነት (በ-legacy media) ይጠራሉ።

የጥበቡ ሰውና የሸገር ሬዲዮ አንዱ መስራች ተፈሪ አለሙ፥ ከያኒውና የኢትዮ ኤፍ.ኤም ሬዲዮ አንዱ መስራች ሰራዊት ፍቅሬ እና ጋዜጠኛ መሳይ አለማየሁ ታሪክን ከትናንት፥ ዛሬና መጪውንም አክለን ተወያየን።
የእናትፋንታ ውቤ ውይይቱን ስትመራ መሳይዬ የድሮ የስቱዲዮ ማጋፈሩ ታውሶት እንደ እኛ እንግዳ ብቻ አልነበረም።

የኢጣሊያ አንሶልዶ ኩባንያ በሰራው የንፋስ ስልክ ጣቢያ ስርጭት የጀመረው ሬዲዮ እስከ1956 ዓ.ም ድረስ በአጭር ሞገድ ማሰራጨቱ ፉጨትና ጩኸት ስለሚቀላቀልበት በጥራት አይሰማም ነበር።
ሬዲዮን ጨምሮ ቴሌቪዥንና ጋዜጣ ያኔ ድሮ ዋነኞቹ የመረጃ ምንጮች (mainstream media)፥ ቀጥሎ የተለመዱ የዜና አገልግሎት መስጫዎች (traditional media) ሲባል ቆየና ከ10 አመት ወዲህ ስያሜው በውርስ መገናኛ ብዙኀንነት (በ-legacy media) ይጠራሉ።

የአፍሪካ አንድነት ድርጅት ሲመሰረት ሂደቱን የቀረጸው የኢትዮጵያ ሬዲዮ ነው፤ የመሪዎቹ ንግግሮች የታሪካዊ ሁነት (Historical events Speech) ተብሎ በኢትዮጵያ ሬዲዮ የድምፅ ማህደር ተሰድሮ ይገኛል።
የጥበቡ ሰውና የሸገር ሬዲዮ አንዱ መስራች ተፈሪ አለሙ፥ ከያኒውና የኢትዮ ኤፍ.ኤም ሬዲዮ አንዱ መስራች ሰራዊት ፍቅሬ እና ጋዜጠኛ መሳይ አለማየሁ ታሪክን ከትናንት፥ ዛሬና መጪውንም አክለን ተወያየን።
የእናትፋንታ ውቤ ውይይቱን ስትመራ መሳይዬ የድሮ የስቱዲዮ ማጋፈሩ ታውሶት እንደ እኛ እንግዳ ብቻ አልነበረም።
ቀዳማዊ አፄ ኃ/ሥላሴ ሐምሌ 14/ 1923 ዓ.ም በነፋስ ስልክ ለሬዲዮ ጣቢያ መቋቋም የመሰረት ድንጋይ አኖሩ፤ ጣቢያው ተመርቆ አገልግሎት የጀመረው ግን በ1927 ዓ.ም ነው።
ስርጭቱ ኢትዮጵያን እንዲሸፍን ተጠንቶ በ9 ከተሞች የሬዲዮ ማሰራጫ ጣቢያ ቢሰራ ተብሎ ታቀደ - በ1956 ዓ.ም።
ይሁንና የአካባቢ ሽፍታ በቀላል መሳሪያ ጣቢያውን ተቆጣጥሮ "ንጉሥ ሆኛለሁ" ቢል ችግር ይፈጥራል ተባለ።
